Overview

Dimming performance and compatibility can be tricky business, particularly when it comes to dimming LED light sources. It may help to keep in mind that each dimming control protocol is really a communications protocol, a standard for allowing the controls to communicate with the luminaires.

Humans determine the desired dim level in the room and communicate that desire by turning a knob or entering a value into software. The dimming controls then use one of the common dimming control protocols to communicate that desire to the luminaires.

RBW offers options to suit all of the dimming protocols commonly used to control decorative and architectural lighting.

The majority of RBW's customers require some level of dimming performance and compatibility. All of RBW's LED luminaires are dimmable, and this guide can assist in selecting the correct dimming option for your project.
